Parents guide to the EYFS

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old.

In England, all schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.

The standards that we must follow are laid out in the EYFS statutory framework which can be found via the following link:

www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2

Our Curriculum

At Wakoos, we follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which sets the standards for learning, development and care for all children from birth to five.

To support our delivery of the EYFS, we use the non-statutory guidance Birth to 5 Matters. This helps us to plan and provide developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences tailored to each child.

Our curriculum is designed to build on children’s interests, celebrate their individuality, and give them the very best start in life. Through play, exploration and meaningful interactions, we support children to become confident, curious and resilient learners, ready for their next stage of education.
