Our Starfish room is home to our oldest pre-school children. They join the Starfish room the year before they leave for school. By keeping our Starfish children separately it allows us to create the perfect environment to prepare the children for the next stage of their education.
Play is still the focus but through play our experienced practitioners challenge and extend childrens learning. For example a simple story can lead to many activities that incorporate mathematics, literacy and communication.
The day in Starfish has more structure than the other rooms to aid with the transition between pre-school and primary school. Meals are served at 8am, 12pm, 5pm with a snack mid morning and mid afternoon. Group times, story times and phonics session also feature throughout a typical day.
The children love to explore the wider environment and often walk to the train station and visit local parks.
