OTTERS (3 - 5 Years)

The Pre-School follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The EYFS seeks to provide:

- Quality and Consistency

- A Secure Foundation

- Partnership Working

- Equality of Opportunity

There are 3 prime areas:-
  1. Communication and Language
  2. Physcial Development
  3. Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The children are also supported in 4 specific areas which the 3 prime areas are strengthened and applied; these areas are literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.

Our aim is to promote each child's independence and individuality. The children are encouraged to take more responsibility for their personal hygiene, which they do in the purpose built bathroom. There is also a disabled toilet in the Family Centre, adjacent to Wakoos.

The children also have freeflow access to our large garden area in all weathers. The room is divided into different areas including a book corner, role play area, maths corner, ICT area, mark making and creative, messy play and construction.

Adult and child led activities take place, these may include role play, group games, mark making activities and sensory play. The day consists mainly of free play although the children sit down all together for focus activities for a short time during each session.

Using our online learning journal system Parent Zone, parents/carers can view the childs daily acitivities inlcuding sleep, nappy changes, meals, observations and assessments and feel reassured that we are having a great time!
